The second installment, in my series of paintings and poems, touches on the theme of disconnection from the body and sexuality.
In a malaise of ambiguity and uncertainty the artist speaks plainly of his desires. But the painting portrays him in ethereal spheres.
The godly, erotic woman in the ocean represents the power of erotic fantasy. This is contrasted with the plain looking girl who is approaching, in vein the artist, who is self-contained and oblivious.
This song was written in 2011 and played for many years, under many circumstances.
I recorded band rehearsal in 2015 and used the drums and guitar tracks for this recording. Overdubs of organ, bass and vocals were done over subsequent months.
What do you think about the song? What feelings does it evoke?
To me it all relates to an affectation which arises as a modern person ambles around notions of absurdity regarding the loveless desire in a world of sexting and too many distractions and diversions.
